Child Safety Standards

The National Office for Child Safety was established on 1 July 2018 in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and has developed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisationsm which set out a nationally consistent approach to promoting a culture of child safety and wellbeing within organisations. The principles give effect to the child safe standards that were recommended by the Royal Commission and bring attention to general child safety and wellbeing issues.

The LCA has developed LCA Child Safety Standards for Congregations which comply with the National Principles and translate them into a framework that is specific to the Lutheran Church in Australia. As a congregations with children participating in regular worship, prayer or children's ministry, GGLC implements these Child Safety Standards.

Employees and volunteers for any programs which might directly or indirectly involve children, are required to complete the Safe Church Training.
